Sarah Wedderburn

Unicornmaths was started by Sarah Wedderburn who has considerable experience in teaching pupils who suffer from difficulties with maths. This has developed into a Studio with five teachers for the remediation of dyscalculia. From this experience Sarah has written the detailed Unicornmaths Programme to provide Sencos, learning support teachers, mainstream teachers and teachers’ assistants with a cumulative programme to enable them to develop an understanding of maths in their students.

Having gained a degree in History and Psychology, Sarah qualified as a primary school teacher in 1977 and taught for a number of years in a mainstream school. She gained an RSA Diploma in Special Needs from The Hornsby International Dyslexia Centre in London in 1997 and then worked there as a tutor and lecturer for six years.

Sarah currently works as an SEN teacher in a primary school and runs the Unicornmaths Studio where she works with five colleagues teaching children who have problems with maths. She is the author and presenter of the Unicornmaths Training Courses for SEN and mainstream teachers and teachers’ assistants which are run in association with the British Dyslexia Association.

Sarah also delivers Inset training to schools on multi-sensory maths teaching and presents workshops at national and international educational conferences.
